OR was I the only lucky one who got on the site at 4am this morning (east coast time), and was actually able to place an order for Europe 72. A friend of mine in NY just called and said so far he's been shut out.

Here's my post earlier today: http://www.archive.org/post/344069/e72-box-website-down

I attempted to get thru, and it looked like I had till I got to the final step, then the server stopped cold.

When I called they told me not a single order had been placed yet.

What a great marketing tool to build up demand, deny access to the server, and get the hyperbole rolling.

i got to the last step this morning when the server crashed. you may want to double check with customer service that your order got in. Based on some posts in the comments at dead.net, a lot of people got through but cs has no record of their order.

Hmmm, I guess my wife wasn't kidding when I said, "what would you do if I tried to order 60 disks for $500?" and she said: "I'd find a way to stop you..." (of course, I wasn't even serious).

ah, but is she said, "Sweet William, if it is what you want to do with your fun money, by all means" would you have considered it?

We discussed it last night and I was given permission to get it in lieu of my next birthday present. Under $100 doesn't require discussion, but ordering this without discussion would result in a one way ticket to the dog house, deservedly.

Oh yeah--we've gotten to the pt where one or the other could spend that much on something purely for "fun", but like you, I'd think the 100 vs 500 rule would also apply around here...I have more hobbies (literally) though, so there's a bit of I need more, just like in the famous movie(camera, binos, computer, stereo, ipod, car, etc., etc....if you follow, most "techno" items just sorta fall to "mine" categorywise, since I use them for work/play, etc.; she could actually live without a stereo, just like when we got married, I had no TV. We joined, and both benefited...). And yes, even a "field car" in my case.

Judge, the witness has not answered the question.

My hobbies always seem to be more expensive, so i tend to buy her more expensive and less practical gifts than she gives me. She accurately points out that I already buy myself expensive enough stuff.

Do you mean "would I have considered it"? Already answered...no way.

Or some other question?

no that was the question, the witness may step down.

I thought about it and i can't think of any other tour that i would even consider purchasing. Fall '73 is the closest but i already have the Winterland box and DP1. Spring '90? No way. Love the Branford show but it is the only one i listen to from that period with any regularity. Spring '71 might be cool since they were lugging around the multitrack and i think they have only release one full show (3FTV, 2-19-71), right? Are there any tour releases you would consider purchasing?

I know that question was for Tell, but summer of 1974 would be a great box set that I would probably look at. I guess Road Trips and Dicks Picks have already covered a lot of this, but I can still think of some shows that could use an upgrade (6-22, 6-23 come to mind).

Fall '73 is magic. DP 19 is well worth adding to your collection!

Yeah, I would buy summer of 68 in a heartbeat (cause there's hardly any, but if there were!!!), as soon as I come out of my "hiatus".

Or, fall 68.

Hell, all of 68 isn't more than 100 disks?

ugh, I'll call

Just got off the phone with a rep, he told me to check my credit card website and if there was a pending charge, my order processed. Thankfully there IS a charge for $450. Never been so happy in my life to see my credit card with a $450 balance! Whew!

Good luck to everyone, for once having to be at work at 5am everyday, paid off.

Glad to hear it. I haven't been able to get through, but they told me "don't worry, we haven't even had 3,000 calls yet" which I though was kind of silly, but I will keep on them tonight.

Wait a minute--this means that elb was right (whomever): they ARE getting YOUR $ now, and it won't be sent til the fall???

Hmmm. If interest rates were higher, I'd be pissed.

No they are not charging the card, just making sure its legit. So they don't get your money until they ship. My point was they weren't going to production until they had commitments for $1.3 million. Based on what has happened over the last 2 days, that seems quite probable at this point.

Ramen...a staple of life! add a can of solid white albacore, some chopped garlic, grated carrots, chopped brocolli, an egg. One hella meal!
If I cook, I can eat well & healthy on less than $20/wk
